Female Construction Employment Training Group Jobsite Visit
On October 20, 2006, the Female Construction Employment Training Group, operated by of Goodwill Industries and run by Robyn Flemming, visited the Ballpark jobsite. The program runs 10 weeks, and its purpose is to introduce females to a booming industry that they might not have considered in the past, and one where they can have great career success. During their 10 week course, the women take classes at a local community college, visit construction sites in the area, and have the opportunity to interact with the areas most knowledgeable industry professionals.
First, Anna Campos and Jessica Wolford, of Clark/Hunt/Smoot, gave the group a tour of the site. The women were very excited to see the Ballpark construction first hand, and also asked some very intuitive questions. Afterwards, everyone gathered in the field office for introductions, a question and answering session, and lunch. Alice Patterson and Chrystal Stowe, of Clark/Hunt/Smoot, led discussions about the women’s experiences with the program. The Ballpark staff were impressed with their knowledge, and excited about their goals and ambitions.
Clark/Hunt/Smoot wishes these women the best of luck while completing their course, and all the best in their future careers in the construction industry!
